TV and my knitting
I think my husband thinks I'm getting worse as I get older or something like that. It all started about five years ago when I was watching TV and turning to him and saying"Oooh, you know he/she has had work done?" now I didn't really think much of it, to be quite honest I didn't even realise I was saying it a lot, only when he said a little later on when he said it reminded him of all those older folk that say "Oooh, you know he's gay?" and the comments that the older generation comes out with but anyway, in a bid to curb my fascination with the complexities of cosmetic surgery, I have enlisted my skills to suss out where I can find knitwear, anything crochet and more difficult, cross stitching pieces in television programmes, now the only one that I know of for the cross stitching would be Top Gear's Richard Hammond where someone stitched his face, as I recall there was a chart in one of the UK magazines. There has been slightly more success with knitting, so far we have hats worn by Hartison in Leverage, a beautiful shawl worn in Lark Rise To Candleford, Emily in Lie To Me in a hat and scarf cable combo and both Richard Castle, Beckett and Alexis with hat and scarves during their second season of Castle (I shall have to revisit season one to double check I didn't miss anything there.) it is hard not to look at all shows like that, as is True Blood, with Lafayette and his need for constant need for a comforter (yes I find that endearing considering the other side of him is being a drug dealer)
Now this blanket, show in Episode nine of Season three, where we can see in this screen shot this blanket/ afghan looks a little like a waffle stitch with purple variegated yarn, well that's what it looks like to me then to my surprise lookie here.....
there is another colour of variegate yarn, and as I think about it, it looks like there are four main blocks roughly about 20 rows in the yarn that is used.
Now as for Mr Tim Roth, this this the second time (as far as I'm aware) that he has worn his West Ham scarf, I think he's trying to get people to make them ;)
Now I don't know what the weather is like in San Diego but I'm now watching out for wearable things in Psych as they have had pineapples, the colour green & the bobbleheads on the iphone why not go a little out there and get a nice blanket that I could do ;) .....right, that's my next mission.....after I have done the Harry Potter blanket because the wool got picked up today and I am mighty excited about it do you want to see my wodge? It's massive ;)

Learning something new is always good :)
I have only a few more squares to go and I was meandering around the internet...okay, I was at Ravelry again and getting sidetracked with all the yarns, patterns and what people have made....anyway, in the main part under crochet corner they had and they a tutorial about how not to have curling edges by making two rows in one, now I didn't think about it at the time I was making the blanket because as I was putting it together it flattened itself out while I was doing it, so when I thought I would actually do the tutorial and see what happened , this was the result. Even though it is not completely straight, it looks a lot better than before and I guess it will be a little easier if you are blocking, so thank you Ravelry for teaching me something new, I look forward to learning more things that I didn't know.
So now that I have learnt how to do that, I have said that I will make a lapghan for Nanna, for her birthday in July, so feeling adventurous, I though that I would do ripples or waves, or something like that, so I went in search for a pattern that I would be able to read easily and relatively easy to do as I still consider my self an amateur, would you like to see my attempt? you will think it quite good...ermmm, yes, it didn't quite turn out to how I actually had it in my head but I guess it would look nice as a shawl in that stitch! Better luck next time......
Now in other news, I got really frustrated with my sock, so in a bid not to just end up with one sock I have started the other one and hope I have the courage to attempt kitchener stitch again. I bought more wool from the Wool Baa (I should really look more, they sell Cascade 220, that's the Dr Who scarf sorted out, I just need the money for it!!), the prper sized needles for hubby and his cable scarf and popped over to John Lewis's - they are so expensive but I got a pattern for making pygama bottoms and an Pony # 4mm crochet hook to replace the one that I lost at the surgery - well I think it was there. I'm still hoping to try the ergonomic crochet hooks, I did see double ended hooks from Hamanaka Japan, which would be great for travelling & paper wool, well not quite, yarn with a percentage of paper in it, which would be nice to try - anyone going to Japan?!
And on the subject of Japanese things, yet again I am neglecting my anime, I still have to finish my Love Hina Box set, let's hope I can, I also finished reading Dead Until Dark, Charlaine Harris, the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series and looking forward to the rest of them and considering no bothering with the show, having said that I wouldn't be able to see Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), he doesn't really feature a lot in the first book _ arrrg, I'm torn!! Now, I thought I would try and read
The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde again, last time I stopped half way through.

ARRRRGGG!!!!
After my total failure of finding out that after 2 balls of wool, the green blanket wasn't straight at the edges, I decided on a different approach to it and that is to make squares so at least I will have some sort of guidance and they would actually look like a blanket. It's going well although this is only the second one and after getting four more balls of wool from the wool baa (the biggest amount of wool I have ever bought in my life) I am adamant to get this done before at least by New Year.
Same wool, different needle, it was so tricky to try and unpick it and save the wool, I thought it would be an idea to change crochet hooks, so I have gone with a 4mm hook.

Basic design layout for cherry blanket
Well I thought it would be an idea to give you an idea of the plan for the red woollen blanket
It's going well, I have 9 squares so far and hopefully by the end of the weekend it might even be up to 12.

Update of the blanket
I have finished it, thank goodness although it is a little smaller than I had intended, the idea was to have it 4 squares X 5 squares and it was going to go onto one of the sproglets bed but even if I had made those (I did but they were really wonkey) it still wouldn't have been big enough so now I finished off the edging and have given it for Sproglet's doll and hope that it will be a better size next time. I do think I am getting better. all I need to do now is get a few more colours and see how I go along with that.
I think I will try a bit more as I have got a bit, because I think I have the bug for it.

The blanket in True Blood
There seems to be a whole load of blankets in True blood but there is one particular one that Lafayette is wrapped around that does look rather nice - I think my new thing is finding blankets that I could crochet.
The learning curve is getting better and the circles don't look as messy as it was when I first started, still not been out to get some batteries for the camera, need to get some before we go visiting the relatives.
